Aidan's First Vacation

It has been a while, but we were finally able to find some time to go down to Sunriver. This was a whole new packing experience for me. Normally when we go I just throw a few thinks in a bag and we're off. Packing for a baby, not so quick. I didn't even know where to begin. We only went for four days, however, I felt like I packed to be gone the entire summer.

Aidan's aunt Linda flew in from Chicago to be with us as well. Rick got to spend some quality time with Aidan while Linda and I spent some quality time at the spa.

For some reason Aidan thinks it is funny when I touch his nose with his toes. What is even more amazing is that I can get his toes up there. When Aidan was born he wasn't even able to bend his body to a 90 degree angle because his leg muscles were a little under developed.

Walking to dinner.

Heading out for a bike ride.

Daddy was out showing Aidan some nature.

While on vacation Aidan suddenly started babbling. It took a while, but Rick was finally able to capture it.

Enjoying lunch at our favorite cafe on our last day.

"Break Through"

We have exciting news for this week. Teeth. Aidan's two lower front teeth have now broken through. He has been chewing on everything.

Also, some not so exciting news, Aidan's reflux and spitting up has gotten worse recently. At least once or twice a day he will spit up an entire feeding. This has become so frequent that we have started placing beach towels on the floor to catch the splatter. I was getting tired of cleaning up the carpet every day. Wish I would have figured out the towel idea sooner. We have now switched to a third medication and are using premixed formula instead of powder. We think that the powdered formula was putting too much air in his tummy. When you shake it to mix, it becomes very foamy. It seems that there are a lot of air bubbles mixed in with the formula that he has to swallow. I hope this works.

Here are some video's and pics of him eating cold fruit. He likes this much better than baby food. It seems that he only wants to eat what we are eating. In this video he is chewing on a nectarine. I was trying to encourage him to eat. So I sat and had a snack with him. It did get him to eat, just not his food.

Since Aidan seemed to like fresh fruit so much I went and got him a "Safe Feeder". I put a large piece of pear in it. He ate the entire thing.

We are still working on tummy time and sitting up. We have to be creative so that he doesn't realize what is going on. Here he thinks he is just playing with daddy's face.
Aidan at gymboree.
He would rather lounge than sit up. Little stinker.

Weekly shopping at REI and Whole Foods after gymboree.

Aidan loves these blocks. I keep hoping that he will suddenly start sitting up on his own while playing.

All kinds of fun.

Aidan has been a busy boy this past few weeks.  He is now able to roll over by himself,  both directions.  He has started eating solids again.  We started solids once before, but Aidan didn't understand what he was supposed to do with it.  Basicly he just spit it out, all over the place.

Tummy time is more challenging these days.  Since Aidan doesn't like being on his tummy he can now just turn himself over.

In this video Aidan is rolling over so he can see me.  Note that he is very careful to only roll to his side and not his tummy.  Smart kid.

I bought a hook on seat to take with us to restaurants.  However, we found that Aidan likes to sit at the counter and play while I'm on the computer.  Even though he can not sit up on his own yet, the design of this seat helps to keep him stable.

Yes, you are correct, the binky is attached to the monkeys head.  Yet another gadget that I thought we just couldn't live with out.

Lukily, Aidan is a vegetable kid.  He loves peas and carrots.

Watch just how much he loves carrots.   Pay attention to the build up of excitement.

We recently purchased a couple of items that we plan to use while on vacation.  This is a peapod.  It's like a small tent.  I put it on the front porch for Aidan to play in while I was putting in plants.

I finally broke down and bought a play yard.  I had originally planned to use the peapod because it is super light weight.  I quickly realized that it wasn't practical for use in our family room.  Aidan likes playing in this because he is in the kitchen and can see me at all times.  It is also easier to put him in and out of.
