Denyse and I spent pretty much the whole day at the hospital today and Denyse successfully fed Aidan a whole bottle for the first time:

Aidan is now part of the 2kg club as he gained 25 grams to 2015 (4 lbs 7.1 oz). He needs only 30 grams tomorrow to stay on track to be 4 1/2 pounds.
Watch this video, and then I'll explain:
This was a *very* minor oxygen desaturation for Aidan, and this happens literally a hundred times a day, pretty much every time Aidan starts squirming, or tries to poo. He has so little oxygen reserves. This soft alarm sounds whenever his blood oxygen is under 81 for 10 seconds. Sometimes, the saturation level will hover in the 70s for a minute or more, and we all wait for it to come back. They don't like to mess with the oxygen level a lot, so they give Aidan a chance to recover on his own, which he will if he remains calm, and just breathes. But if he gets too excited or is too tired to breethe deeply, the level will just keep falling. When it gets below 65 for 10 seconds, the alarm becomes a loud-sounding "ping, ping, ping", and the yellow light changes to red. At this point, a nurse comes over quickly, and either repositions Aidan, increases his oxygen, or both. This also happens several times a day, but I probably won't catch this on film because we're too worried about Aidan when this happens, and whipping out the camera to film this is the last thing on my mind. The most stressful desaturations drop into the 50s and 40s, require the supplemental oxygen to be increased from the normal 27% to 40% or more, and still take more than a minute to recover. So is the life of a preemie with chronic lung issues.

This sleeper is a little too big for Aidan at the moment:
