We got to see Dr Freitag perform his daily checkup on Aidan this morning. He told us Aidan's abdomen is a little distended, but not enough to worry about yet. He also said that Aidan is showing slight signs that he may (repeat may) be developing a hernia. I guess this is common in premature boys. He said they wouldn't do anything about it now, but that if it doesn't correct itself, they would correct this before we took him home.
Enough with the negatives...
We discovered that Aidan's milk intake was increased yesterday to 5cc every 2 hours, PLUS Dr Frietag increased it to 6cc today. He's starting to digest better.
His bilirubin level increased to 4.7, but this was not enough for them to put him back under the blue light. He's been without this for 2 days now. Hopefully this will stabilize now that he's digesting food a little better.
As with yesterday, the holding restrictions are lifted since he doesn't need to be under the light, so Denyse held him for 3-4 hours again.
At tonight's weighing, he only gained 5 grams, however, this does put him above his birth weight for the first time. He's now 1 lb 14.7 oz. Yesterday, Aidan was up 46 grams, so I asked the nurse what kind of error margin the scales had, but she didn't know. She did tell me that they use 2 different scales and that might be why his gains vary so much.
Still hoping for 2 lbs tomorrow.
