September 7, 2008: Day 7

When we visited Aidan today, we were thrilled to see the bilirubin blue light was gone! They increased his feeding from 2cc to 3cc every 2 hours.

Denyse got to hold Aidan for 2 hours today.

He started sucking on a pacifier for the first time, and his cry is getting more vocal. We can definitely see that he is getting stronger.

We watched him getting weighed and measured today. He now weighs 1 lb 12.6 oz, and is 13.75 inches long. His head shrunk from 9 1/2 inches around to 9 inches from the CPAP hat. They say this is normal.

Aidan during a routine checking of the lead connections, and he's not very happy...

During the weighing, Aidan was off CPAP for about 15 minutes. Near the end, he must have gotten tired because his oxygen saturation levels started to drop, and he needed a small boost of extra oxygen. Plus he got a little worked up, so he burned through his oxygen faster. This is always sad to see because we're hoping (probably unrealistically) that he is almost ready to come off the CPAP. He's still only at 29 weeks 2 days, and was not supposed to be born for at least another 10 weeks, so we need to be patient.
